Set in the Lebanese mountains facing the Mediterranean Sea, the AA project is a delicate extension to an old cross vaulted house.
Despite having a sea view, the extensive construction of commercial buildings in Ain Aar notably in the near surrounding, alienated the old house and created a disturbing background for this modest setting.
On the ground floor, three massive walls slide along the site providing privacy to some functions while extending others to the outside. As for the upper floor, wooden boxes sandwiched between two linear slabs lay on top of these walls as well as the old house, granting the users access to a private terrace.
Therefore the new extension acts as a screen that would shield the house from its surrounding and shift the focus toward the impressive sea view that extends all the way to the north.
A fourth wall slides out of the landscape to house the pool and the functions that would meet the barrel vaults in the basement.
