Inspired by the Zuka geological formation, the concept design of this hotel in Lagos stands dramatically as an inspired monolith juxtaposed against dynamism of the city beyond.
Enveloped by a timber skin screening it from its context, and introducing a playfulness of light and shadow to its interior, the design is a sensitive yet dramatic reflection on the natural and cultural heritage of a vibrant growing city.
The hotel was conceived as a single volume, segregated by function and carved to reveal a central green space. Cutting into this volume as one would a rock, its facades begin to take on variable facets and planes offering the interior functions privacy from each other and from the surrounding context.
