Overview

GVR is an intervention project involving the renovation of an existing listed old building with two annexes. Formerly an
ancient pharmacy, the ground floor has been transformed into a functional space that integrates polyclinics along the
roadside, and a residential area towards the backside, connected to a garden.

Location

An old building situated on the main street of Grevenmache, once a ground-floor pharmacy, has been transformed
into a unique and functional space. It integrates both work and living areas, reflecting the specific desires of the client.

Perspectives

The living area expanded by interconnecting both kitchen and reception. Additionally, the openings were extended to
the floor, integrating the garden into the interior, and overwhelming the space with natural light. This intervention
effectively links the living space, with three distinct areas in a cohesive manner.

Concept

A central staircase, crowned by an atrium, serves as a focal point and guides one towards the upper floors. This atrium
features a crossing light that elegantly traverses from the roof to the ground floor, inviting light throughout the entire area.

The design approach on the second floor, takes careful consideration of the room's layout, allowing for adaptability to
accommodate additional bedrooms in the future if the family expands. As part of this flexible layout, both the family
room and the guest bedroom are strategically positioned to be movable to the roof level, which is used now as a multifunctional
space, offering the perfect setting for hobbies such as playing the piano and practicing yoga.
