KD project is a summerhouse portraying a synthesis of architecture and landscape. The volumes radiate from an inner patio towards the horizon, designed in a way to invite light and nature in through wide openings and double-height ceilings.
Located in Al-Amaaria, 30 minutes from Riyadh city, this vacation home is to unwind and relax.
KD is a composition of several volumes following a radial grid, interconnected by a covered promenade and concealing the existence of a large patio at the corner. The single narrow ramp surrounding the different blocks creates a beautiful interplay between indoor and outdoor space, and forms a bicycle pathway for the project. Between the blocks, water pervades into the volumes becoming a natural cooling feature to infiltrate fresh air inside the spaces.
The Living and dining spaces, at the ground floor, have a direct connection to the outdoor garden and equally to the pool and BBQ zone. The upper level, houses five private bedrooms and a Jacuzzi at the top.
The mud plaster, a contextual material reflecting the available natural environment resources, memorializes the attachment to the historical architecture in Saudi Arabia.
