Overview

Minimalist in spirit, this contemporary architectural interplay of stone and glass engages with its environment, whilst offering the client privacy and sanctuary from it.

Location

Set at a corner condition, overlooking a landscape of suburban development and vegetation, the design evolved as long elevation stretching across the length of the site and straddling its edge, offering its interior spaces potential over both its view and its rear garden.

Concept

The reception areas at the upper level manifest as spatial frames, bringing the panoramic view of the valley in to the privacy of the garden, and extending the reception beyond its own footprint, to reach the limits of either.

Diagrams

Most of the built up area of the house is nestled under the upper level, flirting with the view of the valley but mitigating its built impact on the hillside landscape.
