Overview

Overlooking a lush mountain landscape in Monteverdi, the design of this contemporary mountain house hovers over its landscape as a spiral of intersecting volumes rising up from a magnificent terrain of rock and pine.

Location

Articulated around a triangular courtyard, the design reveals itself above the landscape as spiraling platforms floating over the natural terrain, each of its volumes framing a different sweeping view across this dynamic landscape. Hovering above the garden level is a pronounced structural concrete ceiling, its visible beams interplaying with the visual lines of the terrain itself, and extending them into the main reception areas.

Perspectives

Concept

The upper level is sculpted around patios and terraces, framing views through its large openings and perforated façades. It is supported by two volumes on ground level, the juxtaposition of which generates a dynamic tension and spatial dimension within the interior promenade of this contemporary mountain home.
